Response Paper: Learning English

The importance of providing English language learners (ELLs) and multilingual learners (MLs) with a high-quality education is examined in this piece.The author underscores the importance of education in the context of democracy, how it's necessary to modify the current educational system to allow learners to participate fully in today's evolving society, and solid theory's role in facilitating this shift. These three themes collectively enlighten instructors on the need to reinvent and rethink what quality means for MLs and ELLs.The brief was inspiring and useful overall. Although, like the author, I supported a more holistic view of teaching English to MLs and ELLs, I was concerned that the generalization of education being a key to a successful democracy is idealistic and impractical.
