This assignment has TWO PARTS and a REFLECTIVE ESSAY.
Part 1 is called the Background. In Part 1 you should critically review theoretical aspects and the utilisation of supply chain analytics, data, information management and relevant technologies, which contribute to sustainability-based performance (i.e., social, environmental and financial). Sections about the Background are labelled B1, B2…Part 2 is called Analytics. Sections about the Analytics are labelled A1, A2… A6.Learning by doing: the assignment
There is only one assignment. Its purpose is that you prove, to yourself and to your teachers, that you have some understanding and some ability in logistics and supply chain information management. The single assignment has these three parts:
1. Part 1 is called the Background. In Part 1 you should critically review theoretical aspects and the utilisation of supply chain analytics, data, information management and relevant technologies, which contribute to sustainability-based performance (i.e., social, environmental and financial).
2. Part 2 corresponds to what was the individual assignment. It is called Analytics. You must choose an analytics approach which is called the Topic and an application Scenario.
´ The choice of Topic depends on the student’s interest. You should select a topic suitable for data analytics and for which you can easily obtain a dataset.
´ Your choice of application Scenario will often be determined by the dataset that you find or choose.
3. Individual reflection: each student must write a short critical self-reflection essay about what they have learnt, and what they still need to study further, concerning data and information management in logistics and supply chain management.
´ Each individual student must submit her / his own individual assignment.
´ In the first part of the assignment, show understanding of a logistics and supply chain information management topic (45%).
´ In the second part of the assignment, each of you working individually should try a practical data analytics technique (45%).
´ In the third part you must write a short critical reflective essay about what they have learnt, and what they still need to study further, concerning data and information management in logistics and supply management (10%).
´ The assignment is limited to a total of 3,500 words and accounts for 100% of the total marks for the module as a whole. There is no limit placed on the number of diagrams, charts and other outputs from analytics software.
Assessment Submission (for student information)Submission is the approved method for your programme of study. You must hand in your assessed Assignment(s), for all modules that you are taking during the 2019/20 Academic Year using the Canvas system. Submission of a printed copy is NOT allowed. You should submit via the Assignments menu item on the relevant module Canvas site.

Part 1 Background
This first part of the assignment is called the
Background. Your aim should be to demonstrate your full understanding of a
technological topic of importance in the context of logistics and supply chain
management within organisations. You will choose a single technological Topic,
which is a kind of technological approach. You will demonstrate your
understanding within a single application Scenario.
Topic selection and
application scenario
The choice of Topic depends on the student’s interest. You can select ONLY ONE topic. The standard list of topics follows.
1.RFID applications in logistics and supply chain operations (e.g., inventory management)
2.ERP systems and their applications (e.g., business intelligence and supply chain visibility)
3. Big data, information management and analytics in logistics and supply chain operations - implementations, challenges and opportunities (e.g., retailers)
4.Measures of quality and their impact on logistics and supply chain processes
5.Queuing theory and its effects on transportation / logistics waiting lines
You can alternatively choose any other technological
Topic related to logistics and supply chain operations, but any topic not on
the list above has to be approved by the lecturer before you start working on
it.

The assignment requires the implementation of the
application (Topic) in a concrete (real or virtual) organisational context. In
what follows, this is called the Scenario.
Background;
Supply chain management is the process of managing the flow of raw materials and goods in an organization. This is usually done to ensure that company management can keep track of the inventory and establish the goods available in the company. Supply chain management is also necessary for ensuring that the company has a constant supply of the essential goods and services. This article will analyze supply chain information management. The information management effectively keeps track of the consumer demand and predicts the future demand.Experts have mentioned that the supply chain often attracts big data. There is a significant flow of information between the suppliers, the brand, and the customers. Supply chain analytics is often used for a couple of factors. For instance, it is hard to achieve a lean supply chain without the data. It is used to ensure that the management can track the warehouse and conduct an inventory audit.
