1. What were the
significant achievements of the “Reconstruction Era (1865-1876)”?
The Reconstruction
period started right after the American Civil war and was geared to unite the
seceded Southern America with the Northern one to form laws to govern them.
These included the integration of a formerly slave population and the
rebellious population. In the formation of these rules, to fulfill liberty and
democracy, some of the achievements that occurred for the African Americans
included the inclusion of African American political rights that saw their
ability to vote and even stand in political offices, which some of them won
(Holloway, 2018). In addition, federal laws included American citizenship for
formerly enslaved people, which granted them the right to education and
protection against discrimination.
