Purpose
statement and the significance of the study
Assignment instructions
The purpose statement should
flow directly from the problem statement. It should be a concise paragraph that
explains the intent of the study. Specific reasons should be provided for
conducting the research and should directly relate to the research questions.
The researcher should begin the purpose statement with, “The purpose of this
(qualitative or quantitative) study is to…”. The purpose statement should
further describe the methodological design identifying the approach or process
by which the study will be conducted. This section typically ranges between 200
and 300 words. The significance of the study should demonstrate why the study
is essential and how the contribution(s) from the finalized research will add
to the field of study. Keep in mind that this section is different from the
problem Continuation...Keep in mind that this section is different from the
problem statement. The problem statement identifies the problem, shows a
scarcity or lack of data or information in a particular area. The purpose
statement explains why the study is being conducted (to address the problem).
The significance of the study section looks at the benefits or positive
outcomes of answering the research questions and achieving the goals (purpose)
of the study. How will the findings from the research add to or impact the
greater the body of knowledge?
This section is typically one page in length.
The Significance of the Study describes what contribution your study will make
to the broad literature or set of broad educational problems upon completion.
In this activity, you will draft your Significance of the
Study by determining what you hope will benefit others and/or how readers will
benefit or learn from your study. As you draft your Significance of the Study,
consider the following: Broadly, a component of the significance of the study
is to illustrate the contribution that your study will make to the existing
literature on the problem or broad problem areas of education. Generally, a
component of the significance of the study is to elucidate exactly how you will
extend the current literature. Specifically, a component of the significance of
the study is to determine who benefits from the study and how that specific
audience will benefit from its findings.
What contribution will your
study make to the literature or to the field?
(As an Ed.D. dissertation the focus should be
on how this dissertation will contribute to our efforts in practice)?
What do you hope others will
learn from your study? Who benefits?
After reviewing the Reading
and Study material for this module and conducting your own outside research,
craft a purpose statement and significance of the study section stemming from
the proposed problem statement from week 2. Please follow the below steps:
1. Submit a revised problem
statement incorporating the Professor’s feedback from Week 2.
2. Craft a purpose statement starting with the
sentence, “The purpose of this (qualitative or quantitative) study is to…”. The
purpose statement should range between 200-300 words.
3. Develop a significance of the study section
not to exceed 1 page. APA formating for assignment and

The pharmaceutical supply
chain network is complicated, and several steps must be undertaken to enhance the
medicine available to patients. The aspect of business in terms of profits and
losses is also a latent factor that is incorporated into the chain. Several
participants involved in the chain include; manufacturers, distributors, and
pharmacy administrators. Non-effective distribution of pharmaceutical drugs
negatively affects the manufacturing companies' profits and, above all, the
patients in terms of satisfaction with services rendered. Therefore,
inefficient pharmaceutical supply chains within humanitarian aid create time
pressure during emergencies resulting from artificial or natural disasters and
catastrophes.
Problem
Statement
The presence of calamities
around the world may call for pharmaceutical aid. This is mostly achieved by
the humanitarian aid supply chain that attends to the emergency needs of
victims and patients. The supply chain needs to be brisk, flexible, and well
aligned to provide these services effectively. However, some barriers have
hindered the smooth delivery of pharmaceutical supplies along the chain.
Factors like expensive procurement processes contribute to these due to the
complicated systems of humanitarian logistics (Patil et al., 2021). Concerns
have been raised regarding the involvement of inexperienced, under-trained, and
non-knowledgeable employees concerning the rules and standard operations of the
pharmaceutical supply chains (Paciarotti et al., 2021). Moreover, the lack of
adherence to or use of established standard operating procedures may lead to
acquiring defective items and medicines, posing as an ancillary factor. Hence,
the general problem to be addressed is the ineffective and untimely provision
of medicine to emergency cases by the humanitarian aid supply chain resulting
in the deaths of patients and losses by manufacturing companies.
Purpose
Statement
The purpose of this
qualitative study is to establish methods that can be used to improve the
efficacy of the humanitarian supply chain network, following the research
question stating, “what are the ways of enhancing the efficiency of the
benevolent aid disbursement chain”. A grounded theory research design is
employed for this study. Various avenues of literature will be explored for the
research gains. A review of a wide variety of literature will be imperative in
establishing the most relevant information. The data obtained will be analyzed
and compared to acquire the best-suited methods for accomplishing the study's
purpose and goal. This portrays that the study’s purpose is to be thorough and goal-oriented
to achieve the efficacy goal. According to Dubey et al. (2018), organizations
running in the globalized era; must ensure rapid response to their changing
environment and should be able to adapt to face the challenges ahead of them.
Humanitarian aid can borrow this lesson to improve its organization's structure
and standard operating procedures. Moreover, the need to ensure maximum benefit
from setting up quality sales and performance planning to boost the success of the
humanitarian aid disbursement chain is encouraged and emphasized (Goh &
Eldridge, 2019). Therefore, the
study aims to establish the most effective means of promoting an effectively
functional humanitarian aid supply chain to curb the effects of its failure and
lagging service delivery.
SignificanceThe
findings of this study will be helpful in the provision of ways of enhancing
the success and efficacy of the benevolent aid supply chain. These will be
incorporated in managing the organization's standards of operation and the
various stages of the chain network, from manufacturing and distribution to
pharmacy dispensing points. The results will also serve as a guideline for
future reference in the attempt to improve the operations or when in-depth
analysis is required to establish the benefits and disadvantages of the methods
on the organization. This may be necessitated by the changing environments and
technologies globally (Dubey et al., 2018). The contributions obtained from the
research will be used to add to the existing library of knowledge; from these,
references can be made, and supportive or counter-research studies can be
carried out to expand knowledge. The humanitarian aid organizations will stand
to gain knowledge helpful in establishing and managing successful supply chain
networks, which will ensure timely delivery of medication and pharmaceutical
services to patients. Manufacturers and participants along the network will
benefit from increased profits. Moreover, the methods established will provide
agility, adaptability, and alignment of the supply chain’s activities and goals
to the environment, thus ensuring sustainability (Erhun et al., 2021). Therefore,
through the findings, a new era will be revealed that marks the end of injuries
and deaths of disaster victims due to negligence and improper humanitarian aid
supply chain planning. The presence of artificial and natural disasters has
resulted in medical emergencies, which due to ineffective pharmaceutical supply
chain by the humanitarian aid, leads to time pressures. When left unresolved,
this issue can cause more harm to the disaster victims and affect business in
general. Thus the study is established to enhance the efficacy of the
humanitarian aid disbursement chain. The benefits of the findings are elaborate
and necessary in achieving the study's purpose and saving people's lives.
Moreover, the pool of knowledge is enhanced, whereas research and reference
avenues are increased.
