social movement, or a combination of these. What is the relationship between

hierarchies have been produced by transformations in the global economic
system. These tools will be applied to key debates and questions such as: What
is the nature of power exerted by global governance institutions such as the
World Bank, IMF, and WTO? How did the neoliberal discourse on the role of the
state come to be so influential and how feasible are alternative approaches? How
has the growing power of the financial sector shaped the global economy? What
is the relationship between a globalising economy and different forms of
economic, environmental, and social justice? Learning outcomes: By the end
of this module students will have gained:
(1) familiarity with
historical and theoretical perspectives on the contemporary global political
economy,
(2) an understanding of the
key issues and debates on the political implications of a globalised economy,
(3) the ability to use conceptual and theoretical language to critically analyse and engage in policy relevant research on topics that relate to states, markets, social movements and global power. Thank you
The currency dynamics
between various nations mold the global political economy in many ways. The
United States dollar (USD) is dominant in the international monetary system and
thus acts as the main medium of exchange between nations. It also acts as a global
reserve currency in the global monetary world. Moreover, currency dynamics
impact global economic governance in many ways. Through this comprehension,
individuals get insights into the benefits and challenges associated with the
Us dollar’s status and the United States’ global power implications. By
analyzing the case study of Sino-American relations, individuals can gain
insight into the shifting power dynamics and the challenges posed by the U.S.
dollar’s hegemony.
