write a
brief (500 word) reflective summary of the required readings. Your reflective
summary should consider the key geographical themes / concepts discussed,
useful insights for your own research and understandings, and a critical
reflection on the strengths and weaknesses of the readings .
As a reflective summary it is important that you focus upon the aspects of the
articles that most interest to you and reflect on them rather than try to
summarise whole articles in a few pages.
According to Haraway, social
constructionists believe in the scientific method of ideological doctrine about
philosophical epistemology. Science is based on facts and the knowledge game
where each actor in the field tries to create objective power by forcing their
ideologies. The feminist objectivity based on humanistic Marxism focuses on
restructuring the historical notion of gender inequality or the formation of
situated knowledge (Haraway, 2020). The discourse in human sciences coupled
with the techniques in postmodernism aims to disintegrate existing knowledge to
remain at the top of the power and knowledge game. However, the abstract
masculinity concept is the main enemy of feminists. Feminist empiricism also
utilizes the Marxian resources to push the notion of creating a better world by
discovering and describing things that enhance their arguments and
constructivism. Feminists tend to focus on the stakes of the scientific
knowledge that strengthen the account of the world and offer a more prosperous
and adequate radical history (Haraway, 2020). Therefore, the feminist situated knowledge
focuses on both physical and mental responsibility and limits basing their
ideologies on philosophies of body and mind, and responsibility and distance (Haraway,
2020). Objectivity is based on situated
knowledge and not the separation of the object and subject, and hence, the
feminists are held responsible for the knowledge and ideologies learned and
created.
