Personal Statement

As a young Islamic woman of African descent, it takes commitment and hard work to attain higher education. Although I am a devout follower of my religion and culture, education is integral, especially for girls like me who are born into communities and cultures that are deeply patriarchal and often ignore the need to educate women. As a result, I would like to pursue a degree in architecture at your renowned institution, which will enable me to be an example to girls in my community by excelling in a male-dominated field. Your institution is one of the leading higher learning institutions in diversity and inclusion. It would be an honor to be integrated into such an environment that fosters social development in regard to social diversity and inclusion. Additionally, enrollment in your institution will enable me to achieve personal development and academic excellence, which are some of the visions you have for students in your institution.
