Expert Solution

1.Because of lower projections for future birth rates, the population growth in the UK is expected to decline dramatically, making net immigration a crucial element in the coming decades. This is mostly related to the aging population of the nation. The age structure of the UK is changing in favor of older ages due to reduced fertility and longer lifespans (Walker et al., 2021). However, several factors have contributed to its present surge. For instance, the UK's population expansion has been mostly fueled by immigration. Even though there are more births than deaths in the UK, the median overall fertility rate has been dropping (Humby, 2022). Net migration has therefore been the primary factor driving demographic shifts positively.
