Describe
the difference between an independent and dependent variable. Locate a quantitative
peer-reviewed journal article in your field and answer the following questions.
What are the research questions? What are the independent variables? What are
the dependent variables? How did the authors measure the dependent variables?
An independent variable refers to a research factor
or condition that researchers can easily control or manipulate during their
studies. Hypothetically, these variables
have significant implications on dependent variables. On graphs and charts, independent variables
are represented on the X-axis and influence potential changes on dependent
variables. In contrast, dependent variables entail those research factors or
conditions that researchers focus on while making measurements or observations
during a survey (Chaparro et al.,
2019). On a graph or chat representation, researchers show dependent
variables on the Y-axis, and they can transition in response to existing
variations.
