·        Changes in Energy Levels: Observe energy level changes. Energy bursts during periods of manic state and extreme slumber in the depressive phase are typical for bipolar clients.

·        Persistent Mood Swings: Persistent mood swings are one of the main indicators. Bipolar disorder presents depressive phase and mania stages while depression is a longstanding state of low mood.

·        Change in Sleep Patterns: Sleep irregularities occur frequently. Red flags can include insomnia during the manic stages and excessive sleep in the depressive stage (Haller et al., 2016).

·        Impaired Judgment: In a manic episode, individuals may perform risky behavior and appear to have poor judgment, and this is atypical in depression alone.

·        Racing Thoughts: Clients may report racing thoughts while in manic episodes, which makes it difficult for them to concentrate or remain focused.

·        Grandiosity: Be on the lookout for grandiosity or inflated self-esteem during manic periods.
