Outline the
limitations of class analysis with respect to one or more of
the following: gender, race, the underclass.
Class analysis is the
stratification of the society through the perspective of economics, sociology,
and politics into the various dynamic classes. It explores the social
phenomena, consequences, and determinants concerning class divisions. Class
analysis portrays society as being divided into unequal hierarchical divisions
with unequal access to influence, power, and resources. Various factors
determine the different social classes, including the upper, middle, and low
categories, such as education, physical health, race, gender, and occupation.
However, the class analysis system has various loopholes; for instance, it
tends to ignore the influence of women in society, assuming that men occupy top
positions in the occupational and education system. Also, most minority groups
are portrayed as low-class individuals based on discrimination in the work
systems, education, and employment, creating a barrier to achieving high living
standards. Therefore, the impact of gender and race are some of the limitations
to class analysis.
