Workshop
Contemporary Triumphs and Trials
Complete the assigned readings, watch the video lecture and watch the recommended films. Then, complete the following activity. Submit your response via Canvas.
The last lecture discusses queer history from 2000 to 2020. You have lived through much of this history. The purpose of this workshop is to get you thinking about how your history has intersected with queer history. The goal is to highlight key events in your life next to key events in queer history. You may choose which events in queer history to focus on and which events in your life to highlight. If you were aware of significant events in queer history as they were happening, you may want to briefly discuss your thoughts on those at the time. For example, if you remember the Supreme Court’s 2015 decision on gay marriage, you might explain where you were and how you reacted to the news. Good luck and have fun!

The 2012 presidential
declaration intersected with my experience of being an ally to this minority
community. Therefore, analyzing the impact of this event on my support for the
community will highlight the intersection of LGBTQ and US history.
