Why do you think controlling pollutants like mercury is such a difficult
problem? List some of the technological, economic, political, emotional, and
other factors involved. Whose responsibility is it to reduce these emissions?
Greenhouse gas control has possed to be a challenge
and has become an issue of concern over the years. It has become difficult to
control greenhouse gases as it is challenging to switch to cleaner energy
sources and technologies as it is more expensive and often leads to the
disruption of other industrial activities (Leahy et al., 2020). Additionally,
the policies set to control green hose gases do not comprehensively cover some
sectors, such as energy, transport, and industries related to carbon dioxide
emission, and often do not reflect the carbon prices for each scenario.
However, different stakeholders are responsible for controlling and reducing
the impacts of greenhouse gases on the climate. They include governmental
bodies, civil society, which comprises non-governmental organizations, private
citizens, informal groups, individuals and companies, and the private sector
(Bonnisseau, 2022). Therefore, different stakeholders must try to reduce the
impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the climate in order to promote a more
condusive environment.
