What Drives Collectors

Collecting is a multifaceted activity. It can be for any number of reasons, and it may be employed to address any number of issues. For the most part, however, it’s done because collecting is fun and many people like to collect things simply because they like what they’re collecting – or maybe even because they want to make money off their collection at some point in the future. It's worth noting that different kinds of collectors are driven by different motivations[1]. Some collectors look towards items as investments, while others want an avenue through which to display the objects that fascinate them the most. More specifically, however, collectors are driven by factors such as nostalgia, culture, and market influences.
