Question

Development and Contributions of the Immune Response in Neonates

H‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍ello, I would like my essay named 'neonates' to be edited/rewritten based on comments/improvements mentioned in the 'essay feedback' document. I'd the final essay to be around 2500 words and this is excluding the abstract paragraph and references. There are a few paragraphs that talk about formula and breast milk (advantages, weight gain) but if they do not‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍ have any sort of immune/immunology link then you can get rid of it and fill the missing words with something else mentioned in the feedback report. There is another document called your version, which was the original paper written by you before i edited it myself into 'neonates'. You can refer to it if you need any extra references I have removed. Thanks‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍!

Expert Solution

Introduction

Five million newborns die in their first year of life, with infection accounting for 1.5 million of these mortalities (largely respiratory infections and diarrhoea). (1) Unfortunately, existing vaccines are not as efficacious among neonates as they are in grown-up individuals. The neonates significantly rely on the neonatal immune system more for protection and are thus very important for their survival. (2) The problem of increased vulnerability of neonates to infections informs this analysis. Understanding factors relating to the development of the neonatal immune response is key in contributing to findings that seek to address the increased vulnerability and susceptibility to infections among neonates. This contribution is important in mitigating the high and ever-increasing neonate mortalities globally. Early childhood exposures appear to be important predictors of immune-mediated illness later in life. Diseases affect newborns, necessitating additional research into immune system development and maturation in during early growth and development.
