The document, created in the sixth century BC, collects Chinese military leaders' plans and tactics. The document’s writing can be interpreted as a military treaty from Ancient China. The book has had an impact in the boardroom and on the battlefield. However, since its translation into French in the late eighteenth century, Western interest in the work has grown.
