Overview
By closely studying one theory, you have an opportunity to identify and analyze the basic assumptions underlying the theory and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses from a Christian worldview. Throughout this course, you will be completing a research project in stages. At each stage, you are provided with detailed instructions. Be sure to review them before starting the assignment. At the end of your research project, you will have developed a 15–20-page research paper focused on one theory of communication and a 10-minute multimedia presentation of your paper. Your paper will include the following:

Responses
You need to
collect at least 15 scholarly sources regarding the theory of communication
that you choose to address. Use primary sources whenever possible.
All written portions of this project should follow current APA guidelines.
Instructions
For this
assignment, you will submit your Research Project: Title Page Assignment to the
instructor for topic and format approval. Choose one of the
theories discussed in the textbook and create a Research Project:
Title Page Assignment with your chosen theory listed as the title. If the
Research Project: Title Page Assignment formatting is incorrect or if you do
not select a valid theory, then the instructor will suggest corrections. You
should make the edits suggested by the instructor and resubmit your Research
Project: Title Page Assignment through the assignment link. As soon as you
receive approval, you should begin researching your theory and collecting your
sources.

Cultivation
theory by George Gerbner posits that long-term exposure to media can
substantially affect how people perceive the real world and how they conduct
themselves in various instances (Snow,
2020). This theory is concerned with the long-term exposure and eventual
continuing implications of social media consumers’ perception of social
reality. Using a Christian lens to analyze this theory makes it possible to
access its compatibility with the various Christian values and its substantial
potential consequences on individual social media consumers and the large
society.
