Encryption in Communication

Encryption is gaining popularity in the field of communication. The widespread use of IoT and limited resources have created difficulty in securing IoT applications (Diro et al., 2020). Encryption has provided an effective solution to this challenge, especially in areas where these applications and devices are heavily relied on for communication. Specifically, symmetric-key payload encryption is being implemented to reduce the overhearing of communication messages in this environment (Diro et al., 2020). Encryption offers a more effective method of securing communication channels due to its lightweight nature. Lightweight security techniques, such as authenticated encryption, decrease the processing, storage, and communication overheads, ensuring the secure integration of the Internet of Things on a large scale (Diro et al., 2020). Therefore, implementing encryption for organizations with large-scale use of IoT will aid in securing their communication system.
