Hello,
I need 1pg essay, 12 font, double spaced (avoid writing anything that is not
directly relevant for answering the question being asked. Please answer in
essay format the following question: How does Kant summarize his response to
Hume in the following passage? Try to put what Kant says here in your own
words. “Here is now the place to dispose thoroughly of the Humean doubt. He
rightly affirmed: that we in no way have insight through reason into the
possibility of causality, i.e.,
the possibility of relating the existence of one thing to the existence of some
other thing that would necessarily be posited through the first one. I add to
this that we have just as little insight into the concept of subsistence, i.e., of the
necessity that a subject, which itself cannot be a predicate of any other
thing, should underlie the existence of things – nay, that we cannot frame any
concept of the possibility of any such thing
Kant responds to Hume
and agrees with some ideas provided by the latter, and terms such a reply as a
way of dealing with the Humean doubt and concerns arising from Hume’s view and
conception. In his response, Kant focuses on two concepts, causality and
necessity, whereby he claims that humans have little knowledge or capability to
relate the cause and effect of a situation. He uses the phrase law of causality
to reveal that for every event or incident, there is a spur and impact involved
(1). From this perspective, Kant argues that people lack the objective analysis
needed when evaluating and connecting the contributing factors in a situation
and the outcomes of the same scenario. For example, the COVID-19 pandemic has
multiple and maybe even endless causes and effects that create a wide range of
possibilities that the human mind fails to understand fully.
