Expert Solution

The manner in which the artwork is displayed shows it's a statue because, for an artwork to be considered a statue, it needs to be either carved, modelled or cast. The figures are modelled in different poses. One of the figurines is taller, which means the figurine might be a deity. According to the laws of sculpturing, deities are displayed as bigger or taller than the rest of the figures in the artwork. In addition, the figures are displayed with folded hands slightly stretched upwards like as if they are in prayer. Their sombre expressions and some kneeling reinforce the idea that the figurines are indeed praying.
