This assessment requires you to demonstrate your understanding of some of the concepts covered in this topic including power, the past and present history of colonisation, white privilege, racism, decolonisation and culturally responsiveness and begin thinking about their implications for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples and social work practice.

Your use of language is very important, so please be very aware when preparing assessments. This includes the need for the use of capitals (for example Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) and NOT using abbreviations (eg do not use the term ATSI). Please adopt a strength-based approach and do NOT use language that blames the individual but rather recognizes the structural origins of the social issues. The assessment requires that you prepare an essay of 2500 words in length using quality references to support your claims. Identify and explore your standpoint Demonstrate your understanding of the the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Model and how this links to the Culturally Responsive Framework. Present an argument about why it is important to use culturally informed and developed knowledge. Ensure that you integrate engagement/relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, for example (but not exclusive to), practicing cultural responsiveness, self-awareness, and by decolonising social work practice. Use the domains of the SEWB model to inform your social work practice and analysis You will need to demonstrate that you have engaged with literature on standpoint theory and culturally responsive practice with Aboriginal and Torres Srait Islander people. Consider how you, as a social worker, can provide a safe space for your work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and what challenges you might experience. Details about myself to write my standpoint : I am indian came to australia in 2017, im indian so there are roots of colonisation. I have faced racism as well , being an immigrant in the country.
