Care Act enacted in 2010 and COVID-19. Then answer one of the following set of
questions:
1) How has COVID-19 shined a

in addition to health inequality?

the state (i.e. federal government)
in creating and perpetuating health inequalities? Please be specific.
3) Do you think the PPACA
legislation is helpful in addressing health inequalities, more specifically
COVID-19? Explain your answer.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(PPACA), formulated and implemented in 2010 by the former president of the
United States, Barack Obama, aimed at offering and expanding the accessibility
to quality healthcare and reducing the health inequalities that people in the
United States experienced. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has
brought to light the existing differences in the country's healthcare systems.
Despite the PPACA legislation making several significant steps in reducing
health inequalities and increasing access to healthcare, it has imposed impacts
on addressing differences during the pandemic, COVID-19, which have been
limited hence requiring the implementation of new measures which effectively
address the complex challenges faced by the marginalized communities.
