Expert Solution

1. How did this ethnography differ from previous class readings? How was it similar to previous readings?Although Treuer's ethnography differs from previous class readings, it shares some similarities with the readings. For instance, Treuer (2012) highlights that the US government's introduction of compulsory boarding schools for Indians aimed to eradicate the familial ties that hindered the civilization of Indians. This concept of the government's disregard for cultural ties is highlighted in the previous readings. It is also similar to previous readings as it accounts for how the communities tried to protect their rights. Treuer (2012) highlights the strife of this community to protect their rights through collaboration with the government. However, this ethnography differs from class readings due to its scope. Generally, this account has various similarities and differences with the previous readings.
