The Australian healthcare
system has established the medicare health insurance program, which restricts
visitors and non-documented immigrants who get treated on private pay
procedures. The federal, state and local governments play a crucial role in
funding a universal healthcare system. In 2015-2016, the total expenditures on
public health insurance were 10.3% of the GDP. This was an increment from
2014-to 2015 (Tikkanen et al.,
2020). On the other hand, Newzealand healthcare system creates universal
health coverage by funding inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, and mental
health through public funds (Chalmers, Ashton
& Tenbensel, 2017). In 2017, new Zealand's total health
expenditure totaled 9% of the GDP (Tikkanen
et al., 2020). Therefore, New Zealand's health expenditure is lower than
Australians.
