What is the relationship between theory, research, and evidenced based care? This week we are discussing the relationship between theory, research and evidenced-based care. When you are thinking about evidenced-based care, please provide insight about how nurses use it in practice. In your daily practice do you think your peers understand what evidence-based care is? Do your peers know how to lookup best practice? Have we trained all of our nurses to use it? Do you think there is a knowledge gap? I am attaching an article for your review. Theory, research, and
evidence-based care correlate in practice but possess distinct traits. Nurses
need knowledge and practice for better results and outcomes for themselves and
their patients. In theory, nurses can learn about the existing body of
knowledge in nursing, which they practice through evidence-based practice. In
the latter process, they weigh the inadequacies and gaps of preset processes
and procedures, question the knowledge they have acquired, and open up the
possibility of further research to improve their knowledge and answer these
questions. The evidence-based practice incorporates particular procedures that
equip nurses to better care for their patients and reduce the existing gap
between pre-existing knowledge and research.
