Article Critique

Th‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍is assignment will be submitted to Turnitin®. Instructions Your final draft of the Intervention paper is due in Week 9. Please remember there are serious penalties for late submission. Here again is the assignment: Scholarly Intervention Paper (Critique a Research Article Instructions Despite research on the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, our understanding of the etiology of mental illnesses such as dementia, mood disorder, physical, mental, and psychological trauma is still in its infancy. Mental illness, symptoms, and disabilities pose challenges to our Veterans, people in the communities and older adults. There are many new and older interventions used to treat various diseases and symptoms of mental disorders, including medication therapy, talk therapy, and physical interventions such as electric shock treatments, magnetic treatments, baths, massages, etc. Conduct a literature search to identify an intervention that you are interested in and find at least one article reporting research that was done on the intervention of interest. Make a list of the most relevant articles you find to create a short bibliography of your intervention-you must have at least 5 references. Then select one report of research investigating your intervention. This is the article you will critique for this assignment. Review and critique the article using the attached Guide to Critiquing a Research Report. Please strictly follow the order of topics on the guide in your paper. Generally, your paper will address the aspects of a research report, including: You will critique the “Introduction” section including the purpose of the study. Note, many journals following APA do not label the introduction section with “Introduction” as a subheading.‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍For most journals, it is assumed that the first part of a research report is an introduction that answers the questions listed in your Guide. Consider whether the theoretical framework used to explore the problem was appropriate for the research, and does it explain why this research was important to conduct? Research using people must (by federal law and International rules) be approved by a research ethics committee (often called an Institutional Review Board, or IRB)? Does the author note that the study was reviewed? Do you think there are there any ethical issues with conducting this study? In the order presented in the Guide, you will discuss the research design, sampling methods and sample, setting of the study, and intervention studied, and specify the dependent and independent variables if any, You will also describe the results of the study, including whether any statistics used were appropriate, and what were the clinical implications of the findings. Finally, you are asked to answer the question, “How confident would you be implementing the intervention in your practice as a mental health nurse practitioner—and why?” This paper must be in an APA format, approximately 6 to 8 pages in length (not including title and reference page) with at least 4 references (online references must be cited) and written professionally at a graduate level. Consider that sentence and paragraph structure will be considered in the grade, as will spelling, punctuation, formatting, and writing style. Note:please see the article review below, and the first draft with my professor's remarks to improve this final paper. please my grade total is on this  article , please read and write what is requested, use the article and the feed back that I uploaded it is‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍ very important.

Expert Solution

Naumann et al. begins by relating the topic to a current world problem that depression is among the leading causes of disabilities worldwide. In addition, he ties this idea to the global effect of increased depression cases, which lead to an economic burden of 317 million dollars annually (Naumann et al., 2017). He then ties this global problem of depression to his research purpose by stating that depressive disorders lead to an increase in chronic diseases, affecting the nervous system, thereby disrupting the normal circadian functioning, sleep and body temperature. To bring up the need for a hyperthermic bath to treat depressive disorders, Naumann et al. discusses current treatments in relation to their costs and side effects (Naumann et al. 2017). Finally, the researchers support their intervention by discussing its results, such as improved sleep among the elderly patients with vascular dementia and reduced depression rates based on the 21 items Hamilton depression scale. Therefore, the introduction successfully ties the study's purpose to a global problem, thus showing its relevance and the need for the intervention to be researched as a means to reduce depressive symptoms in patients with depression.
