Expert Solution

For Jaber’s presidency of COP 28, impartiality was the primary ethical concern raised. According to the UNFCC, the core principle of presidents of this conference and their team is to ensure impartiality (Rowlatt, 2023). However, Jaber holds several positions in the UAE that may present a conflict of interest while conducting his role as the president of this conference. For instance there were concerns raised over leaked documents that proved that Jaber was prepared and willing to make gas and oil deals with foreign countries who were to attend the conference (Bakx, 2023). Generally, the primary ethical concern with Sheikh Al Jaber's presidency was the conflict of interest presented by the other roles he played, which included being a chief executive officer of a leading oil company in the UAE.
