Part 1 (Select a Topic & Articles):
1.Identify a topic of interest from your discipline area
(Political Science,) and develop a research question. What is it? Write
two-three sentences describing what topic you selected, what you specifically
want to learn, and why it interests you.
2. Select two empirical, scholarly (peer-reviewed) articles that
are closely aligned with your selected disciplinary and research interests.
Students should choose articles published within the previous 5-7 years.
Include the citations for each of the articles using the 7th edition of the
American Psychological Association (APA) citation and format style. Students
can access articles and journals using the Troy University Libraries Links to
an external site. (https://my.troy.edu/
Part 2 (Article #1 – Critical Analysis):
1. After effectively
reading and taking time to reflect on the first article, provide an analysis of
the article using at least 1000 words. Your analysis should be outlined to
include the following three sections: Summary: Describe the idea(s) or research
question(s) that inspired the study. What methods were utilized by the authors

#2 – Critical Analysis): 1. After effectively reading and taking time to
reflect on the second article, provide an analysis of the article using at
least 1000 words. Your analysis should be outlined to include the following
three sections (same outline as in Part 2): Summary: Describe the idea(s) or
research question(s) that inspired the study. What methods were utilized by the
authors to examine the topic? What were the main findings and notable results?
What implications do these results have for society, policy, and/or future
research? Describe the most significant takeaway you got after reading the
article. Critique: Explain the main strengths of the article. What did the
authors do exceptionally well in describing or analyzing their findings? Discuss
the main weaknesses of the article. What were the limitations of the methods
used? What interpretations or conclusions did the authors make that you think
could be in error, unjustified, or overstated? If you could re-do the study,
what would you do differently? What lingering questions do you still have?
Apply: How do the findings from the article relate to your selected topic (from
Part 1)? How does this research help answer your research question? What
unanswered questions about the topic remain? How could a future research study
address these gaps in the literature?
Part 1;Topic of Interest: The Impact of Social
Media on Political Participation and Engagement.
The topic of interest in the field of political
science entails an exploration of how online platforms or social media use
implicates the behavior of people, particularly individual political behaviors,
including making political decisions, voting, and engaging in civic activities.
This topic is intriguing since in the contemporary time, social media tends to
