According to a survey done in 2020, Chronic Obstructive Lung
Disease (COPD) is the 3rd leading cause of death globally. It is a
lung disease that affects airflow in the body and in an acute state an
individual will require hospitalization. There are several Evidence Based
guidelines available to practitioners such as the international GOLD guidelines
and Australian COPD-X plans. However, the implementation of this guidelines is
minimal thus the disease has a high mortality rate. Several articles attempt to
address the causes of poor implementation; in this instance the article on
implementing clinical guidelines for COPD by Overington and the global
initiative report on COPD that highlights the GOLD guidelines.
