Students at the University of
New Mexico (UNM) have access to various healthcare alternatives, however, their
availability is restricted by business hours. On Tuesday the Student Health and
Counseling (SHAC) is open from nine in the moring to five oclock in the
evening. Mon through Fri, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the LoboRESPECT Advocacy
Center and the Women's Resource Center (WRC) are open. Students must contact
and leave a message for a callback within 48 business hours at the UNM
Psychology Clinic, which does not have set business hours. The various
schedules of students, particularly those with classes, jobs, or other daily
obligations, may not be entirely accommodated by these operation hours. Thus,
due to limited availability, access to necessary healthcare services may be
hampered for students.
