main question addressed by this research is how of Trump's presidency has
affected the daily lives of immigrant families in America. The authors describe
the "Trump Effect" as the impact of the presence of the former
president of the United States and his discriminatory and anti-immigration
ideologies beyond and during his election campaign in 2016 on immigrants (Nienhusser et al. 1). The primary argument
presented by the article is that xenophobic sentiments towards mixed-status
immigrant families in the nation and heightening the fears these families
already experience are on the rise in Trump's regime (Nienhusser et al. 2). The article utilizes the Trump Effect as a
theoretical framework to present its arguments as this concept had been
investigated earlier, before and after Trump came into power.
