Based
on the symptoms, Rosa was exhibiting Major Depressive Disorder, is a befitting
diagnosis. According to Bains, N., & Abdijadid, S. (2021) Major Depressive
Disorder (MDD) is an illness portrayed by declining interests, impaired mental
function, and vegetative symptoms such as disturbed sleep or appetite. Our
patient, Rosa, extensively showcases all these symptoms. This is not a surprise
as it has been reported that one out six adults suffer from the disease, and
women are more prone to it than men (Slavich, G. M., & Sacher, J. 2019). Rosa's
case of MDD is not rare and is treatable.
