3.Choose and offer details on three positive extrinsic AND three negative intrinsic motives. (Chapte‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍r 12)

Expert Solution

1.Understanding if an employee has an internal or external locus of control will help a manager select the appropriate communication method, motivation, and even leading. This is because persons with an internal locus of control are easily motivated since they firmly believe that any reward is due to their behavior (Chapter 10: Chapter Introduction). Hence, the manager can encourage them by giving them rewards. However, they are more independent, therefore challenging to lead and manage, implying that the manager will need stronger means of communication, leading, and managing techniques. On the other hand, it is easy to manage and lead employees with an external locus of control because they are more compliant and often require assistance (Chapter 10: Chapter Introduction). Also, the manager will need to develop other motivational techniques since this group of employees is not easily motivated.
