the readings and policies that you engaged this module. How
did your outlook on the role of an educational leader expand as a result of
what you learned? What were the three main questions you had from the readings?
Educational
leaders have different roles which encompass various responsibilities.
Traditionally, the duties of principals mainly focused on administrative tasks
and instructional leadership, unlike in today's world of leadership in
education. Despite its traditions, the roles of principals have expanded, and
they now include a broader range of responsibilities, including making informed
staffing decisions, fostering a positive school culture, and improving public
schools (National Council on Teacher Quality, 2010). My outlook changed as I
understood the benefits of educational leaders being given more say on
staffing. According to the National Council on Teacher Quality (2010), when
educational leaders, especially principals, when given the power of staffing,
it portrays that they have more authority bestowed on them, thus being highly
involved in the hiring, placement, and evaluation of teachers and other staff
members.
