I’m applying for a masters
course in International Relations at Queen Mary University of London. I’m doing
so off the back of work experience opposed to having done undergraduate
studies. So I need a good personal statement expressing my passion for politics
and international relations. I recently completed an 8 week online course
at London School of Economics in International Relations and the Political
Economy which can be used in the personal statement. My main work experience
has been as an immigration caseworker assisting individuals obtaining all tiers
of UK visas and dealing with UK immigration authorities.
I’m a mature student of 30 years of age.
The world today has been
experiencing drastic political and social revolutions. I have always been
interested in public affairs and the curiosity to learn and understand the
dynamics of the world and hence the desire to pursue international relations
and politics at London Queen Mary University. My primary motivation for
pursuing the cause is my fascination with humanity and creating a safer
environment for everyone globally, which highly depends on the political
decisions made. Therefore, following a politics and international relations
course will enable me to critically think about what is good for society, be
enlightened about responsible citizenship, and gain practical and theoretical
knowledge of the political dynamics. In addition, I will earn a broader
perspective of the world and the revolutionary changes through examination of
political economy, society, history and culture.
