1-Consider how many services you have encountered today (e.g. your mail being delivered, the café where you bought
your morning coffee, the lunch queue at the university cafeteria, the shop
where you bought groceries, the call centre you called to query your mobile
phone bill). List them, reflect on how the service provider performed and score
them out of 10 for speed, quality and cost. Evaluate their scores and suggest
how they might improve.
page 2- Consider the role technology plays in
both of this chapter’s caselets. How do you think advances
in technology (e.g. mobile
communications, cloud computing, social media) will influence the service
sector? Consider potential technology-based service innovations.
page 3 topic 1-Why is it important to
synchronise product design and supply chain design? What are the implications
of this from an environmental perspective page 3 topic 2- Summarize the various
costs incurred in a typical supply chain. Seperate these and label them as
individual paragraphs do not merge paper.

The interdependent state of the world leads one to depend
on others substantially. From morning, the journey began with the purchase of
coffee at Starbucks, followed by calling an Uber to the institution. Furthermore,
the lunch purchase was made at the cafeteria, and I also purchased a set of
writing pens at the tuck shop. Towards the end of the day, the service received
was another Uber ride back to my apartments. After the ride, I entered the
supermarket to purchase some groceries, and this was the culmination of the
purchase experiences I had during the day.
These services all varied in quality, cost, and speed.
Starbucks is a corporate establishment that struggles to maintain a certain
aura of brand confidence. This led to top-notch service delivery, and the
customer was polite. However, the morning rush implied a bit of queueing, but
the speed was ideal given the prevailing conditions. Considering the cost, quality,
and speed of service, it received a rank of eight out of ten. The Uber ride was
exceptionally earlier; I made the person delay. The vehicle was immaculate, and
the conversation with the driver was insightful. Therefore, the ranking is a
none because it was an epiphany-inducing valuable experience in the morning. The
lunch purchase at the school cafeteria was during rush hour since most on-campus
students partake of their food there. The food was generally delicious given
school standards. However, the length of the queue derailed my schedule and was
tantamount to my late arrival at the afternoon lecture. The opportunity cost of
this alternative was high, and thus it received a 6 out of 10. The pencil purchase
received a seven as it was generally swift and convenient. The Uber ride back
cannot compare with the morning ride and thus received a seven. The grocery
purchase was illuminating as I walked down the Isle with my trolley. That
receives an 8 out of ten. All eight and above rankings are proficient in
quality and cost-effective; the expediency in service execution was also
exceptional.
