Based on the Quasar
Communications case study, the debate strongly focuses on using expert and
legitimate power. This is justified by the fact that the collaboration and
authority types utilized by administrators inside the company cover a wide
range of sectors. Additionally, it was believed that legitimate and reward
power might be combined to inspire team members and value their contributions (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2013). The
considerations highlight the importance of cooperating power categories to
accomplish a common objective: project success. Strong inspiration may be used
to execute change equitably and inspire employees. With this form of control,
employees or team members may immediately boost productivity and effectiveness,
and work can be completed easily. The benefits of motivating power include that
waiting for a wage would compel workers to put in extra effort to get the prize (Lock, 2017). Any additional perks
can also increase retention. The abilities and competencies of the associates
may be swiftly increased, and interactions with the new personnel are
frequently beneficial. This type of power may be used effectively to carry out
the challenging project in a cooperative and well-organized manner (Lock, 2017). The case study and
discussion of power dynamics highlight a large area of personal management in
which plans are developed for the management of employees in a company. This is
typically produced and strategically sound by analyzing the present organizational
demands and staff requirements (Bourne
et al., 2017). The Quasar case study illustrates how important it is to analyze
performance and conduct in an enterprise at both the collective and individual
levels (Kerzner & Kerzner,
2013). This focuses on how human behavior affects the workforce and explains
how it affects things like aggressiveness, management, inspiration, and
interactive activities. Therefore, the chosen power types are relevant to the
case study as a means of both boosting efficiency and productivity.

The paper emphasizes
using various power types to manage a business or project and make it
successful. Referent, reward, and legitimate power are highlighted as the main
power types in the proper functioning of Quasar communication (Bourne et al., 2017). Regardless,
project management has been identified to have issues with their marketing
department where their legitimate power is in question (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2013). This is due to
excessive force where project milestones are altered without discussion. As
such, referent power is undermined within the system. As a means to reduce this
misuse of power, change control should be invoked within the system. The
R&D project management is instanced to handle too much work, and he
oversees engineering, product management, accounting, marketing, and quality
assurance (Lock, 2017). This
showcases unstructured scheduling, thus resulting in the inhibition of power
types within the system.
Different strategies
will lessen the likelihood of senior management problems and obstacles. The
coworkers' participation in decision-making operations is one of the key
metrics to consider. They will come up with original and creative ideas to
finish the assignment (Lock,
2017). The next stage is to get opinions about the project manager's management
and instruction technique. By doing this, the project manager can manage the
team effectively or not. This wouldn't harm the project team's work situation
and help them accomplish their goals. Additionally, the project manager's
exercise of authority is crucial for the project to be successful (Lock, 2017). Employees in the
manufacturing and engineering departments of Quasar Communication are less
motivated due to a lack of incentive power. As a result, using prizes as a
source of motivation will help them finish any project needs that are still
outstanding (Kerzner &
Kerzner, 2013). It is necessary to assess the risk that may develop during
project implementation to increase design productivity. By utilizing a variety
of power types, the Quasar project manager may effectively decrease the
likelihood of risks and ambiguity. The reason is that the corporation may lead
its employees by creating the appropriate structure (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2013). Ultimately, using
different power types will be useful in triggering the motivation source of
each employee.
