Organizational Intervention Assignment:
●Students will briefly present an organization and summarize some problem/issue/challenge that the organization seeks to address using evidence to support their description. The organization you will use for this paper is the Eating Recovery Center
● Next, they will analyze how dynamics of power, privilege and oppression create, support or inhibit the resolution of the challenge. This will entail identifying factors internal and external to the organization (staff, service users, limited resources, municipal policies, etc.) that contribute to the issue. Please also include the dynamics of power of how not all populations are able to receive treatment i.e. people who are poverty stricken, do not have private insurance to cover expenses, or people in rural communities who do not have access to go to one of these types of treatment centers.
●Students will then identify the role of the social worker as a change agent in addressing this challenge and identify the organization’s readiness to change, which includes specifying existing (internal and external) barriers and supports.
●Students will identify
three possible alternative change interventions and explain which of these they
consider to be the optimal choice. They must justify this choice using social
work values of social, economic, and environmental justice.
●Students will then
provide an evaluation strategy to assess the effectiveness of the intervention.

Eating Recovery Center (ERC) is
an American-based organization that helps patients with eating disorders. With
various branches across the country, it is preferred for its inclusivity in age
and gender, allowing people from all genders and across multiple age groups to
attain optimal health. However, the organization's popularity can be attributed
to patients' specialized treatments. Eating disorders can be diagnosed as
Bulimia, Compulsive Overeating, and others that specify treatment plans for
different patients, yielding better results. In recent years, the
organization's challenges have correlated with the construction of new branches
and the expansion of organizational activities. Additionally, the organization
looks to address issues of establishing their patients' true growth and healing
after their programs. ERC faces various organizational challenges in the
provision of its treatment programs which certain sectors of the economy cannot
afford, which it can overcome through the implementation of proposed
interventions.
