upload the articles and you choose one.) Each student will formally review an
empirically-based, peer reviewed research articles related to their field (i.e. school counseling, mental health
counseling, or college counseling and student affair) from the list of assigned
articles provided, or they may review an article of their own choosing (from
2005 or later). Empirically-based articles are those in which the authors
collected and analyzed data (i.e.
there will be a method and results section; literature reviews are not
appropriate for this assignment). For this assignment, the article must be
qualitative or mixed-methods in nature. The review should include the
following:
1. – Provide the
reference in APA format at the top of the first page;
2. – Identify the research
problem;
3. – Identify the
research question(s) being addressed;
4. – Identify the
research hypothesis (if applicable);
5. – Identify the kind of study (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, or
mixed method); explain why it is this kind of research
6. – Describe the
sampling method;
7. - Explain what
the researchers did (procedures, method of assessment, etc.);
8. – Describe the findings;
9. – Describe the
application(s) to practice identified by the author(s);
10. – Describe how the
authors addressed ethical and culturally relevant strategies for selecting,
administering, and interpreting assessment and test results used in the study
11. – Discuss your critique and impressions of the quality of the
research (regarding #s a-g above); &
12. – Suggest a
potential follow-up study not suggested by the researcher(s).
13. - Please include the article’s reference in APA format. Required length: 3 pages of text maximum for each review (exclusive of reference). Use complete sentences throughout the paper, please – even when identifying information asked for. The article reviews will be graded for clarity, organization, and grammar. This should be done in APA format, double spaced, with 1 inch margins, 12 point font, Times New Roman.
