Various stakeholders in the community
can participate in the effective prevention program. The first is the police
department, which will collaborate with the community members to reduce illicit
drugs and related crimes (White et al., 2021). This way, the quality of life in the
community will improve. Close relationships between the police and faith-based
organizations can help the police identify and refer people needing substance
abuse services (White et al., 2021). Working with the community will help
the police identify the circumstances resulting in violence and drug
trafficking, which is crucial in identifying strategies to solve crime. As the
police target hotspots of drug trafficking, they will decrease trafficking and
its related crimes. Criminals participating in drug trafficking will be
prosecuted and sentenced to jail; hence the need for the community and the
police to collaborate with county jails (White
et al., 2021). Healthy living will
be promoted in the community. As such, the program will collaborate with local
gyms to help the youth keep fit, reducing health issues such as obesity and
improving their mental well-being (Biddle et al., 2019). The elders and healers in the
community are also critical in implementing the program as they will ensure it
is culturally sensitive. Churches, schools, local businesses, and colleges will
also collaborate in the program as they are a great source of funding,
research, and other critical resources. Nonetheless, the external stakeholders
will have to learn about the culture of this community before program
implementation.
