Extinction is an explanation
for classical conditioning. It is explained as the gradual weakening of a
conditioned response that results in the disappearance of behavior. In
psychology, this is a term that is used to describe the gradual disappearance
of specific behavior. This means that the behavior that one has been accustomed
to eventually stops. For example, when one trains his dog to shake hands, the
dog can gradually lose this habit if it is not prompted to do so in a long
