As a counselor in training Develop plans and strategies that would focus on career-related service for college dropouts. Include in your plan strategies you would use in and educational or training program
Career planning plays a
critical role in enhancing students' academic resilience. A wise selection of
career choices helps in finishing the career program successfully. However, the
wrong career choice could lead to poor grades and sometimes dropouts. Therefore,
as a counselor, it is crucial to establish a career-related service program for
college dropouts.
Although there are various
causes for college dropouts, such as financial problems, course complexity, or
loss of interest, wrong career choices stand out. Therefore, students should be
directed on wise career selection (Sampson, 2017). Some strategies that could
be used in training programs and education include early childhood
intervention. The educator should understand a child's abilities and prepares
them to make the right career choice at the college level. Also, there should
be a Curricular career information service (CCIS) at the high school level to
offer guidelines on proper career selection to avoid making the wrong career
decision which could lead to college dropout (Sampson, 2017). Another strategy
could be reforming college objectives and policies to motivate students to
pursue the selected career choices by providing real-life examples and
illustrations to prepare them for the job market. Students should also be
encouraged to pursue courses they are passionate about and consider their high
school performance in different units to help select courses they can easily
comprehend (Sampson, 2017). Thus, as a counselor, it is crucial to offer
career-related services to students to select the most appropriate career
depending on their passion and high school performance.
There are various reasons for
college dropouts, but the wrong career decision stands out. However, some
strategies that could be used to plan for proper career selection include early
career intervention, introducing CCIS programs in high school, reforming
college policies, and encouraging the selection of a career depending on high
school performance.
