post Self-assessment is critical to developing resilience; how can focusing on
strengths and skills you already have help you identify and improve upon skills
you are lacking in? Why do individuals assume their
resilience skills will transfer automatically from one situation to another and
feel troubled when they discover this isn’t the case?
Self-assessment is a relevant
tool for measuring growth and accomplishments. When carrying out
self-assessment, it is important to start by stating your accomplishments or
how much you have achieved, depending on what you had set out to do. Patience
is vital in self-evaluation since the lack thereof discourages someone,
despising the work one has done to improve and diminishing any hope of working
on shortcomings and failures in the process. In addition, beginning with
accomplishments helps one to see that they have the potential to work and
achieve something. These accomplishments are measured against preset standards
or metrics. When stating accomplishments, the degree to which a particular
achievement was similar to the metric is identified, and at the end of the
self-assessment process, one realizes that their achievements exceeded their
shortcomings. Therefore, beginning with accomplishments enables one to see that
they have the potential to work and achieve and proves that one has achieved
more than their expectations, encouraging them to develop the skills they are
not proficient in.
