Conflict Management Article Review

Interactions at the workplace are prone to conflict. A review of the article "A Unit in Conflict Management Communication Skills" by Weider-Hatfield, Deborah, published in June 1981, will highlight why conflict occurs and the communication process that can be utilized to resolve and manage conflict.The article focuses on conflict and its management. Weider-Hatfield (1981) argues that a unit in conflict management is integral due to the inevitability of conflict in a relationship and vast career opportunities for students trained in conflict management. The article aimed to enable students to become conversant with their preferred conflict management style and to gain knowledge and expertise to undertake a six-stage conflict management technique with a win-win approach (Weider-Hatfield, 1981). Generally, the article aimed to guide students on the conflict management techniques they can utilize when conflict arises to maintain healthy relationships in the work environment.
