Initial
post;Prior to reading the chapter, I would say that watching violent TV or
playing violent video games causes aggression. However, I believe playing
violent video games, especially for adolescents, leads them to develop
aggressive behavior that showcases itself in early adulthood or during this
developmental phase. Studies have linked spending excessive amounts of time on
screens through playing video games and watching TV with sedentary behavior and
physical inactivity in adolescents, which leads to the development of
anti-social and aggressive behavior. With the highly addictive nature of online
video games, adolescents with access to such games are at a high risk of
developing aggressive behavior. Additionally, the language used in these games
spaces is usually abusive and aggressive and thus may be a stimulus for the
development of such behavior.
