Reactive attachment disorder (RAD) is children establish unhealthy emotional connections and struggle to manage their feelings. Children with symptoms of RAD could always appear moody, fail to join social interactions to respond to comfort, and are afraid and withdrawn. Disinhibited and inhibited are the main types of RAD. However, according to Bowlby's theory and other studies, the main etiology of RAD is childhood maltreatment, including physical, sexual, emotional, and mental abuse, separation from their biological parents, or ESSENCE disorders of children in their early stages of development.
