Discussion
1 you will determine the qualitative research question, discuss how qualitative
research questions differ from quantitative research questions, identify the
researcher’s paradigm and any evidence of reflexivity in the research report,
and discuss ethical considerations pertaining to the study. Also, consider
whether a qualitative approach might be appropriate for your own research
topic. The required article for Discussion 1 Westas, M., Mourad, G., Andersson,

In your initial post, consider the following:?
•What is the
research question? How does a qualitative research question differ from the
research question in a quantitative study??
•What procedure
was used to recruit participants for the sample?
•Was the sample size
appropriate?
• Why or why not??
• What do you
think the researcher’s paradigm was??
• What evidence
of reflexivity do you see in the research report??
•What ethical
considerations were mentioned in the research report? What applicable ethical
considerations can you think of that were not mentioned by the researchers??
• How might a
qualitative approach be usefulfor the research topic you chose in Week 1? ( It
was about depression in women and children) American Psychological Association.

The research question
in the study revolved around the notion of ‘How specifically designed
Internet-based cognitive behavioral treatment (ICBT) affects depressive indicators
in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD)?’ The basis of the question is
formed from a qualitative point rather than a quantitative one, given that the
question involves open-ended rather than closed-ended verbs, allowing one to
explore concepts and experiences in more detail (Westas et al., 2022). As a
result, rather than defining a research project for the
intended demographic, the query helps obtain context regarding measurable
facts and explain behavior. Twenty patients with CVD and depressed symptoms
provided data for a qualitative interview utilizing inductive topic analysis
(Westas et al., 2022). The sample size was appropriate given that a randomized
control trial was used to evaluate the behaviors and impacts of different
participants, enhancing the research objectives. The researcher's paradigm was
deficient because it did not provide a broad framework, including perception, convictions,
and understanding of numerous hypotheses and procedures employed in scientific
research (Westas et al., 2022). This was attributed to the study not providing
in-depth evidence concerning depressed cardiovascular patients’ experiences
participating in the personalized iCBT program.
